Brought up my website today, and realized I haven't written in my blog for over a week. Just got distracted by... life, I suppose. Both 1st life, and 2nd. Mostly 2nd :)
The last week has seen some interesting stuff happen on SL®. We had our Mentor Graduation, welcoming the mentors that joined the family through Q1. It was a success, and a lot of fun. Although, the majority of the mentors there weren't new at all! There were plenty of announcements, so it can't be that the new mentors didn't know about the parties; maybe they were just shy. Or us veterans need to teach them how to party!!!
I attended the festivities on Friday, for the full event, as well as the first half of Saturdays party. I was there, of course, with my best friends/sidekicks Ganesha Xi and Doctor Gascoigne. We're just like a little happy family lately, and I love it.
We had some VIPs in attendance as well, I'll try to list them off, sorry if I miss anyone... Mia, Lexie, Blue, George, Colton, Plexus, and Sejong Linden. At various times. It's nice to see the Lindens take a break once in a while, and just come have fun. And before anyone gets all uptight about them partying while the grid was borked - they are COMMUNITY Lindens, not developers or technicians. That's a whole other blog subject right there *makes a note*. Colton was on a search for Magellan Linden - dont think he had much luck finding him at our party. We did, however, have pie.
The music was AWESOME, both nights. The first night we had DJ Jos (Joslyn Bonetto) and the second night Ganesha (Xi) was spinnin the tunes. Probably the highlight of my night was on Friday, when Ganesha reverted into a generic avatar (Advanced > Character > Character Tests > Test Female) and played the newb for awhile. She walked over to George Linden and said "Are you a GM? Can I have some gold?" He wouldn't, however, give her gold, or quests, so it was decided he's a mean GM. We threw pie at him.
On a different subject - I decided to close my club. All good things have to come to an end, and for my club, that time had come. The last event was last night (Saturday, April 19), from 7-9pm. It was a good final bash, with about 25 people in attendance most of the evening. Doctor Blackthorne DJ'ed for us, and she played a wonderful set. Just the right mix of fun tunes and sentimental songs to draw a tear or two. And I did shed a few - I've been involved with Crobar for over a year, and it's been a great run. There were some people missing, that have been key players in the club, that didn't make it. I was disappointed about that. Thal, Red, Harmony, Mae, Garra... I would have liked to see them come by for one last party. But, Calleigh came online for the final daytime event, which was cool because she has quit SL, but came back for one last party. Papi dropped by for a bit as well. Myki, who was a manager at Crobar when I first started, was there for the entire evening event.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the land, etc. quite yet. I've had a few offers to purchase the club, but the land size is not insigificant (1/4 sim) which makes it a bigger investment than most are willing to make. Running a club is a lot of work, as well. Even when you have awesome managers, as I did :) Vanda and Kathy, you are the best. I mean that. Thanks for sticking with me.
It was kind of an expensive final bash - I put over 25K into the prize pots, games, tip jars, bonuses, etc. But, it was all in good fun, and a good sendoff. A big thank you to everyone that came out to party with us.
